Application for Coronavirus insurance premium finance payment deferral scheme

If your application to defer your insurance premium finance payments under our Coronavirus insurance premium finance payment deferral scheme is accepted, then you can delay payment of your premium finance instalments due under your agreement with Granite for a period of up to one month.

It is important to remember that the deferral scheme allows you to delay your payments. The payments that you miss under the deferral scheme are not cancelled or written off. You will still need to make up the payments at a later date.

We also need to make clear to you, that if we accept your application for an insurance premium finance payment deferral and give you time to pay, we are not changing the terms and conditions of your premium finance agreement with Granite. Any payment deferral that we offer to you is made to give you some time. We can continue to hold you to the strict terms and conditions of your premium finance agreement. If we do allow you time to pay under our insurance premium finance payment deferral scheme, then we do this on a voluntary basis and it does not mean that in the future we have to keep on allowing you time to pay.

We will look at your application to see if it is in your best interests to delay your premium payment. Sometimes, it may not be, because the remaining term of your premium finance agreement does not allow enough time for you to make up the missed payments, or it may not be realistic, given your individual circumstances, for you to make up the missed payments in time.

If this applies, then there may be other ways that we can help you, for example, by waiving some of the interest due under your premium finance agreement with Granite. We will look at this on a case by case basis and can discuss this with you.

If you need to take advantage of the premium finance payment deferral scheme due to circumstances caused by coronavirus and if your application is accepted, then we won’t charge you any interest on the overdue payments and we won’t charge you any administration or other fees in connection with the missed payment and instalment arrangements under the scheme.
